OFFICIALS:
All games will be self-officiated, however the SSC will provide a Game Coordinator for each location to help direct payers, resolve disputes, etc. Scores shall be reported to the SSC Game Coordinator.
EQUIPMENT:
The SSC will provide boards and bags. Players are encouraged to purchase and provide their own bags.
PLAYING ROSTER:
The maximum number of players on the court is four. The minimum number of players is two.
The minimum number of players to play a scrimmage, and avoid the forfeit fine, is one.
Teams may pitch in any order they choose. Teams may substitute at-will between half-innings. Except in the case of injury, the player who starts a half-inning must finish that half-inning. The same player may not participate in consecutive half-innings. All present team players must participate in at least one half-inning.
Teams lose the ability to challenge a player’s eligibility after the second game, except in the case of a late-arriving player.
FORMAT:
Each team plays one match per night for seven weeks.
Each Match consists of three games or as many as can be played in the time allotted, whichever is fewer. No new inning shall begin after 50 minutes. The team that wins the most games wins the match. Regular season matches can end in a tie.
The team first reaching a score of 21 wins the game. If the time limit is reached in the middle of an inning, the inning shall be completed. It is not necessary to win by two points.
Prior to the first game, both teams will meet to determine initial pitching order with a game of rock, paper, scissors. Subsequent pitching order is determined by scoring in each half inning. The team that has last scored points shall pitch first in the following half-inning.
All games are doubles play. One member of each team will pitch from one side of the court during a frame. Another member of each team will pitch from the opposite side of the court in the next frame.
Cornhole games are broken down into innings of play. The top of an inning is completed when one player from each team has pitched all four of his or her team’s Cornhole bags from the first Cornhole board. The bottom of the inning is completed when the remaining player on each team has pitched all four of his or her team’s Cornhole bags from the opposite Cornhole board.
Players alternate pitching Cornhole bags until all are thrown. All pitches must be underhand.
SCORING:
Cancellation scoring shall be used without “skunks” or “busts”. Only one team scores points in each half-inning. At the conclusion of a half-inning, the lowest team point total is subtracted from the highest team point total. The resulting point total is then awarded to the team that originally had the higher point total.
Point Values:
- Bag-in-the-Hole – 3 points
- Bag-on-the-Board – 1 point
- Bag-off-the-Board – 0 points
- Bag hitting anything first other than the board (ie floor) – 0 points
- Bag partially touching board and ground – 0 points
FOULS:
- Pitching a bag with a foot over the foul line (front edge of your team’s Cornhole board)
- A pitched Cornhole bag that contacts the ground before coming to rest on the board.
- A pitched Cornhole bag that contacts other out-of-bounds obstructions before coming to rest on the board.
- Pitching a bag overhand.
Any bags-on-the-board that are knocked off by a foul pitched bag shall be returned as closely as possible to their initial position on the board.
Any rules not specifically mentioned here follow those of the ACA.
STANDINGS:
Teams earn three points for a win, one point for a tie, and zero points for a loss. Teams are ranked in order based on the following criteria:
- Total Standings Points
- Head to Head
- Total Games Allowed
- Total Game Differential
